Field trips play an integral role in our curriculum as students take full advantage of all that New York City has to offer. Visits include trips to cultural and community organizations and neighborhood walks. The purpose of these excursions is to provide children with primary experiences to help answer questions such as: How can art and artifacts provide us with insights into belief systems and ways of life? How do neighborhood businesses reflect the priorities and resources available to the people who live there? Each grade in Middle School goes on an overnight trip. 6th and 7th graders go on a several-night nature-based trip where they do team-building, adventure activities and learn about the natural world in connection to what they study in science class. This year 8th graders go on a week-long trip to Panama to practice their Spanish language skills and engage in service learning.
